Introduction

Need to project a movie or to "IMAG" your actors on stage because social distancing.

If you are forced outside , or to use a 2000 seat auditorium even if your average audience is just 300-400 strong, then IMAG is your friend.  No-one can see their child properly at the back of a large auditorium, but that may be the last available seat ....

Use a camera (or 2 or 3) connected to a projector (via a switcher i more than 1) and put the resulting video up on a screen or 2 (one on each side works best) via a good quality projector.

We recommend Ultra-Short-Throw projectors with Laser Video Engines putting out at least 3,000 ANSI lumens for the best reliable results.

  • The brighter the projector (if it has c=good contrast too) the crisper the result.
  • Ultra Short Throw projectors allow you to keep the projector close to the screen, so it is less of a trip hazard and it doesn't take up seat spaces.
  • Laser engines tend to be crisper than LED or DLP or LCD - my order of preference.  They also generate less heat and use less power.

IMAG. What?

The term IMAG is a short form for "image magnification" used in the audiovisual production industry, and relevant for our events as it can provide up close or magnified images of actors and musicians on stage.

Projection Screns

Projection Screens

Need a quick and easy way to set up an outside (or even inside) screen - inflatable screens are the answer. Pick the spot, connect the blower to power, a few minutes later it is up, make a few adjustments to get the position right and the screen taut, then anchor with guy ropes (supplied) and add a projector. The fan noise makes them less suitable indoors - a standard tripod, hanging or fast-fold screen may be preferable inside (currently we do not rent these).

Projectors

Ultra Short Throw Projectors

These projectors are largely for Movies or IMAG when there is little to no ambient light on the screen. If you need something for projecting scenic backdrops with a brightly lit stage we recommend something in the 8,000 to 10,000 ANSI lumen range. Beware of amazon and ebay listings quoting high lumen values - most of these are only 10% of the quoted figures.
